The Fox Theatre Institute Restoration Projects
The Ritz Theatre
Ritz Window Restoration
The Ritz Theatre in Brunswick, Georgia applied for restoration assistance from the Fox Theatre Institute in 2010 after noticing that a number of their historic windows were loose and in danger of falling onto the street below. Neither the City of Brunswick nor the Ritz Theatre had experience dealing with historic glass, and both parties wanted to explore options to preserve and restore the 54 original windows rather than replace them.
The Desoto Theatre
Desoto Paint and Plaster Rehabilitation
The DeSoto Theatre in Rome, GA experienced severe water damage due to a deteriorating roof. The theatre’s board of directors raised the necessary funds to repair the roof, but they were unable to also fund the repair of the painted finishes that were seriously damaged. In addition, the DeSoto needed a trained restoration artisan to execute the necessary repairs to painted surfaces and plaster.
The Grand Theatre
Grand Theatre Organ Restoration
The story of Fitzgerald’s Grand Theatre organ is a celebration of one community’s vision and commitment to the arts. As a result of their hard work and dedication, along with their partnership with the Fox Theatre Institute, The Grand Theatre now boasts the third working theatre organ in the state of Georgia.
